The next time some enviro-johnny tries to sell you on the notion that Dr. Seuss's famous story of The Lorax is a cautionary tale about the evils of corporate greed and industrialization, think again. Dr. Seuss probably didn't plan it that way, but it's actually a warning about the importance of private property, without which the tragedy of the commons cannot help but be reenacted.
