The next time some enviro-johnny tries to sell you on the notion that Dr. Seuss's famous story of The Lorax is a cautionary tale about the evils of corporate greed and industrialization, think again. Dr. Seuss probably didn't plan it that way, but it's actually a warning about the importance of private property, without which the tragedy of the commons cannot help but be reenacted.
Check out the whole story at The Commons Blog ( Or just read behind the link )
Hat tip to The Volokh Conspiracy
Choral update: That's private- not state-property, by the way. Or had you not checked the environmental record of socialists states recently?
