A couple weeks ago, it was mentioned here that the editor of Playgirl votes Republican.

Well, apparently she's no longer the editor. My dad emailed me the story from Drudge:
PLAYGIRL editor-in-chief Michele Zipp has been stripped of her duties after she revealed how she voted Republican in the 2004 election.

Zipp, in an e-mail, claims she was fired after an onslaught of liberal backlash.

"Hello Drudge,

"After your coverage of my article about coming out and voting Republican, I did receive many letters of support from fellow Republican voters, but it was not without repercussions. Criticism from the liberal left ensued. A few days after the onslaught of liberal backlash, I was released from my duties at Playgirl magazine.

"After underlings expressed their disinterest of working for an outed Republican editor, I have a strong suspicion that my position was no longer valued by Playgirl executives. I also received a phone call from a leading official from Playgirl magazine, in which he stated with a laugh, "I wouldn't have hired you if I knew you were a Republican.

"I just wanted to let you know of the fear the liberal left has about a woman with power possessing Republican views."
Yep, there they go, the Tolerant Left being open-minded and understanding...unless you disagree with them.

I'm wondering what the community members think.

Is it unreasonable to have a guideline that when members post email forwards or press releases or news articles, that they cut-tag the article? I'm not talking about discussion of an article or email, I'm talking the text itself. Especially cross-posted items.

Many articles appear in several venues within a short time period. Some people (okay, maybe just me) loose interest in seeing the same thing over and over. However, I'm generally always interested in other people's discussion and thoughts on those items.

(The item just posted before this is an example of what I'm speaking of, but it's far from the only such that I've seen here. And as far as length goes, that one's not excessive.)

Does anyone else agree with this, or is the community doing fine as it is going?

All right, y'all...
My presence on LJ has been somewhat lessened of late, and I've stayed out of most discussions, but since it seems to be desired, let me once again share with you the dream I had when creating this community.

If thou art a right-leaning fangirl...

I. Thou shalt find shelter here.
II. Thou shalt have fun here.
III. Thou shalt not spur bitter debates, nor get defensive or snarky with one another.
IV. Thou shalt not suffer micromanagement nor oversized government on the part of your admins, for this is to be a laid-back place.
V. Thou shalt understand that we cannot agree on everything, and seek common ground instead of argument.

I call your attention especially to point 4. Do you really want us to be like other communities, and draw up a zillion details and rules? Or can we be adults and get along splendidly with just our one cardinal rule? -- i.e., You must be a right-leaning fangirl (or fanboy) to hang out here.

'Cause I'm thinking that's enough. We're in favor of smaller government, right? Right?

Love, kisses, and crack of the whip,
Molly

The more of you who answer this, the better. Once we get this answered, I'll confer with [livejournal.com profile] lemonlye and draft up some Posting Guidelines and General FAQs. Thanks.

This afternoon, while my father drove me to school, we listened to the radio. Glenn Beck were discussing Terry. Beck played back an earlier call he got, and it was absolutely repulsive.

A woman called in saying Terry should die, becuase no one should look "like that" on TV. I kid you not. The woman claimed that Terry is a vain woman who would never want to be alive if she knew that America saw her "like that." She said that women did not appreciate being seen in public without makeup, her hair done, etc.

Glenn Beck made her promise to never, ever call his show again.

I had no idea that we could kill people for looking bad on TV. No wonder Oprah wears so much makeup.

I'll try to find a transcript or something. It's aboslutely unbelievable.

And this nurse who has come out...did anyone see her on Fox News this morning? Unbelievable! Apparently, Mr. Loving Husband injected insulin into Terry. It could have put her into a coma and killed her. That's attempted murder. I mean...ARGH!

And please, someone tell me: When was hearsay acceptable evidence? Since WHEN could Mr. Loving Husband just say to the court, "Well, she told me..." and it's accepted? Have I missed something? If so, could someone please enlighten me? okplzthx.

Celebrities Plead for Terri

Mel Gibson: "I fully support the efforts of Mr. & Mrs. Schindler to save their daughter, Terri Schiavo, from a cruel starvation. Terri’s husband should sign the care of his wife over to her parents so she can be properly cared for."

Patricia Heaton: "We must not let Terri Schiavo be starved to death. This deliberate and painful destruction of a woman’s life cannot be justified or tolerated. Terri deserves better. Removal of a feeding tube will result in a slow starvation that is cruel and painful. She is not in a comatose state and she is not suffering from terminal disease. Terri may no longer be perfect or complete but she has a fundamental right to life. Her feeding tube must be re-inserted."

Randy Travis: "I would like to lend my support to the Schindlers in their efforts to save their daughter. All life has value. I’m praying Terri’s feeding tube will be reinserted. I feel this decision was wrong, deciding the fate of an innocent person’s life by starvation. May God lead the powers that be to reverse this decision and give Terri her life back."

There are a few more at the Newsmax article. Always nice to hear from our voices in Hollywood.
