Can... can it be true?

Until a few days ago, I thought there was only one Republican in fandom other than myself! (My closest fannish friend is a Libertarian.) I had to start a second domain (http://lavenderbutnotpink.com) because when I had my political stuff at my original website with my fanfic (http://belladonna.org) I got flamed too much by people who came for the slash and saw it and felt the need to enlighten me about the government alien coverup.

By diligently searching LJ, I found a tiny minority of other right-wing fen, but to find this community! I had actually toyed with the thought of starting something like this, but I was sure there wouldn't be enough interest! But there is! *sobs for joy*

You guys have no idea how happy you've made me. *runs to tell everyone*

Regarding "Lost" characters...

For those following "Lost": I wasn't sure whether to be happy or not when Sawyer divulged in the latest episode that he has never voted Democrat. On the one hand, I like Sawyer, so I'm pleased enough; but on the other hand, he's meant to be a jerk and a bigot and a criminal, so I'm wondering if they're just playing into stereotypes there--gun-totin' Southern a**hole, woohoo!

Then again, if Boone is the show's example of a liberal (Shannon said he was a liberal in another episode) then that side's not represented very ideally either. :)

Then there's Sayid: it is pretty respectable of the writers to face the truth that, yes, Saddam's Republican Guard tortured and killed people all the time; and I admire that they included a character who is sorely troubled by having done so, and now hangs out with the Western-world democrats (small "d", of course).

Could well be that we have an almost politically balanced TV mainstream drama here. You think? Dare I hope? Discuss.

Let's Talk About Me

I was supposed to go out and get all sorts of constructive things done this afternoon, but guess what? My car keys were kidnapped by aliens. After spending about an hour scouring my spinster flat and the path between my apartment door and my car for them, I gave up and called a locksmith. He just called and said he'll be here in about 15 minutes, but, you know, I was stuck here all afternoon.

But I used the time constructively; I checked out the LJs of numerous members of this community and Friended a lot of you. (If I didn't Friend you and you'd like me to, just let me know. We con-fans need to stick together.) Some of you seemed to have *numerous* common interests with me, so I'm really looking forward to getting to know you all better!

Okay, sorry for the fangirlish glee, but I've just gotten so used to being on the defensive with other fen that this is very refreshing. I mean, I had abandoned my LJ for about two years because I got so many Democrat flames, and I didn't revive it until well after last fall's elections were over. And, you know, the initial euphoria of finding this community hasn't had time to wear off yet.

Anyway, let me ask, is it okay for members to suggest interests to be added for this community? Because numerous fandoms are listed, but, um, not mine. That being From Eroica With Love, now finally legitimately published in English. *throws confetti* And I know there's at least one Republican and one Libertarian in the Eroica fandom. Besides me, I mean! Also, I think it'd be nice to list one of the very few canon Republican characters out there, Ainsley Hayes, who I am going to marry. (I am a Brunette Republican Sex Kitten.)
