So, over on
remusxsirius, a comm for fic/art/discussion of the Remus/Sirius slash ship (of which I am A BIG FAN OMG), one of the members asks, apparently for some school project, if the community members are for or against gay marriage.
Gee. Wonder what the answers are? LOL
Of course, it's all "emphatically for" and "I don't see how you CAN be against" and blah blah blah. Probably not the best sample for a poll, LOL. Anyway, I put my two cents in, because I figured it'd be nice for the girl to get something different to work with. My reply:
But it'll be interesting to see if any discussion blooms, or if my Lone Voice of Sorta Dissention will coax others out who might not be so emphatically and march-participating-in-ly for it ;) Let's hope it remains wank-free!

I am in favor of extending the same legal rights towards gay couples that het couples have as far as making someone not related by blood a family member and have access to...things that spouses have access to, heh.I just sent that in, so no flames yet, LOL. And assuming that this group of folks are of a decent sort, they'll appreciate my candor and honesty and respect my opinion, especially since I'm *not* completely against it, heh.
But...I'm not sure I want it called "marriage".
And I think the decision should come at a state level by the direct input of the people of each state (i.e. voting), and not in the hands of high-ranking judges, as our Constitution dictates. (Obviously, I am speaking for the US.) I don't want the Federal government involved, but I do support the way President Bush is calling for an actual *amendment* to the Constitution (which must be ratified and approved by the citizens of the country), not just a court ruling.
*sprays inbox with flame-retardant coating* Any questions? *g*
