A day away from the US election, and the LJ community at large is beginning to annoy me. I'm not American, so I'm not sure why it's even bothering me, but it is.

So many communities are going on about how anyone who votes Bush is "ignorant", "doesn't know about the issues", "a hick", "stupid", and so on (and those quotes are just from one community, a non-political one at that).

When will people realize that people can have *gasp* different opinions from them? People don't put down or talk so harshly about people who enjoy different movies or music or such. The liberals who are talking like that are no better than the "closed-minded" conservatives they're talking about. Worse even, because most conservatives I've ever talked to allow others to have their opinion even if it's conflicting.

As a Canadian libertarian, I'm not a big fan of Bush myself, but I can respect and understand the fact that others like him. I know that people have different opinions from me, and that's okay. I'm just annoyed with all the liberals who have that holier-than-thou attitude that theirs is the "only right way" and that everyone else is a moron for thinking what they do.

Sorry, just had to vent.

Why Democrats Should Vote for Bush
by Tammy Bruce

As a Democrat and a pro-choice feminist, it’s time for me to explain why I support the president, and why other thoughtful Democrats should join me in doing so.

I can’t tell you how many e-mails I’ve received from other Democrats either condemning me for not toeing the line, while others write who are genuinely curious, after all the hate-mongering and demonizing of Republicans and the president specifically, they hope I can ease their fears about what their inclination to vote for the president means about them.

The simple answer? It means you’re a confident liberal, a thoughtful person who realizes that game of party loyalty takes a back seat to the safety of your family and this nation.
It also means you take the slogans of “choice” and “radical individualism” seriously. Isn’t it ironic that there’s nothing more radically individual these days than a liberal who doesn’t conform?

I've just stepped across the line from Bush-supporter to Fangirl. I'm beginning to find him.. sexy.

I feel so dirty.

I suspect that LJ's results will be swayed much further in Kerry's favor than the real election will be, but here's pimpin' so that Bush gets at least some reasonable kind of representation ;)
