Anchorman

I saw Anchorman today and it was a really funny movie. Very, very enjoyable. However, one of the characters, Brick Tamland, has an I.Q. of 48 and is certifiably an idiot. And what is his profession at the of the movie?

He is now a top advisor to the Bush Administration.

It's just that the slams are all the time. I don't mean to come across as overly sensitive--I really don't think I am. But why is it all the time?

Iconless!

I am in desperate need for a political-type icon. But I don't really want a picture of the president, or something tearing down Kerry or 'the liberal side' in general. (Not that anyone cares about doing that to us, but that's beside the point.) I would much rather state what I'm for, rather than what I am against.

Any ideas where to go?

I have mixed feelings about this whole issue.

On the one hand, I have no desire to go to a concert expecting to hear music and instead be insulted from the stage. I would think that anyone, no matter what 'side' they're on, would feel that way.

And for the artist, it's unfair and downright *rude* to, 1) assume everyone in the audience shares your viewpoint and 2) be rude and nasty in sharing it. I would have no problem with someone stating, "I am voting for ____ and I would urge all of you to do the same. But whatever your voting choice, just be informed and educated about it. And most importantly, *vote*."

However, that's not what I've seen lately.

Cut for length. And boy, do I go on. )
