I don't hate her, I dislike her. Much like I assume you dislike Obama. Some reasons, off the top of my head:

- I find it annoying that when Obama-the-candidate was repeatedly roasted for having little experience in government, McCain was later forced to take an inexperienced-in-government person as his running mate, and Palin was then automatically hailed (and is still hailed) as an excellent choice even though the campaign itself didn't want her.

- coldblossom above (http://community.livejournal.com/therightfangirl/1375906.html?thread=15090594#t15090594) said that they think "Liberals hate the idea of successful women with Conservative beliefs". Which is fine to think, I guess, but I also think is incorrect. But anywho, my point here is that sexism against liberals in this own community (http://community.livejournal.com/therightfangirl/1363528.html?thread=14964040#t14964040) isn't called out at all.

- Next car on the hypocrisy train: liberals are said to treat Obama like the next coming of Jesus, but if you look at really liberal places on the web like Metafilter you'll find he gets crucified regularly. And not even for far-left liberals calling Obama on not doing far-left liberal things, it's realizing Obama is a centrist and is instead slipping to the right with actions like upping the bombing in Pakistan and letting the TSA have these pornoscanners. But the same people who supposedly deify Obama then turn around and do the same thing to Palin, and refute any valid or otherwise criticism of her with a bug "NUH UH!"

- Heading back to my first thing about experience: she resigned her governorship. She could have easily finished it off. She had no reason not to, if she were going to continue with a political career. It would have forced people to respect her just that little bit more. But she quit. Because of... legal problems she was already taking care of? To then... ghostwrite a book? And get paid thousands of dollars to speak? And have a reality TV show? She's making a lot of money off this stuff, so at the very least her motives in retrospect seem more self-serving than noble. She could have done anything. Spoke more often with more focus on charity, made appearances at soup kitchens or whatever. You know, conservative values. It just looks bad, to me.

So there you go, some long-winded free-thought blork on Sarah Palin. I don't hate her, far from it. I'm just confused at her continued popularity and wish people would stop taking her so seriously. Like Jason Bieber.
