Presidential Debate Reaction Post

Feel free to live blog the debate here!

Also...what time is it supposed to start? 9:00 EST/6:00 PST? I have to run to the store on my way home (leaving now) and I'm afraid I'm going to miss it this round! D:

Oh, like we didn't need to have gotten involved in Libya and given them weapons? We shouldn't do that in Syria?

I actually think Mitt is doing good. I cringed when Obama started interrupting a few minutes ago.

Hoping someone says something about Benghazi. C'mon.....

...Invading Libya was careful and thoughtful?

-_-

[identity profile] muses-circle.livejournal.com 2012-10-23 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
Obama has pretty much just come out and stated his administration played "pick and choose" with these Middle Eastern countries rebelling against their governments. Yikes.

[identity profile] kelincihutan.livejournal.com 2012-10-23 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
I love how Mitt keeps pointing out there's lots of things the US can do that don't involve the military but also don't involve folding like laundry.

Didn't Obama go to Libya anyway, and just said, "FU" to Congress in so many words?

War Powers Act, anyone?

"Moderate Syrian leadership"? Just like Egypt now has with their Muslim Brotherhood president?

[identity profile] sreya.livejournal.com 2012-10-23 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Wait, we just moved onto Egypt... didn't Obama start out on the last question?

[identity profile] pat-t.livejournal.com 2012-10-23 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Obama should spend his time telling us how he plans to change things the next 4 years. Not constantly poke at Romney.

[identity profile] kelincihutan.livejournal.com 2012-10-23 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
!!! Did Obama seriously just use the words "red line" about Israel in a way that did not involve Iran? Is Netanyahu watching this? 'Cause I bet he's fuming about that one.

[identity profile] muses-circle.livejournal.com 2012-10-23 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
No dude, women over there are treated like chattel because of Sharia law, and Egypt's new president has vowed to put install that into the country. Big honking way to make that "democratic revolution" fail!

[identity profile] muses-circle.livejournal.com 2012-10-23 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
30 years of bad foreign policies in the Middle East = today. Mubarak never should've been an ally.

[identity profile] pat-t.livejournal.com 2012-10-23 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
Go Mitt! Go Mitt!

From Andy Levy:

"It's weird watching two people who basically agree try to debate,"

Indeed.

[identity profile] kelincihutan.livejournal.com 2012-10-23 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
That was a spectacular comment from Romney. Whoo-hoo!

[identity profile] pat-t.livejournal.com 2012-10-23 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
The moderator is actually doing a good job.

[identity profile] sreya.livejournal.com 2012-10-23 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I love that - "the responsibility and the privilege"

[identity profile] sreya.livejournal.com 2012-10-23 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Nice specifics on foreign relationships that have been cracking.

[identity profile] dark-weezing.livejournal.com 2012-10-23 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Nice smack from Romney about the Green Revolution. Israel, too.

First sign that really annoyed me about Obama.

[identity profile] sreya.livejournal.com 2012-10-23 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Anyone notice how Obama says he "ended" the war in Iraq, and not that we "won" the war in Iraq?

[identity profile] lazypadawan.livejournal.com 2012-10-23 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
It's obvious the campaigns' internal polling showed independents/undecideds didn't like the bickering and sharp confrontations the last time. Meanwhile The Circular Firing Squad(TM) on Twitter is screaming that Romney hasn't yet smashed a chair over Obama's head and call him a Kenyan Kommunist.

I will say that Obama is trying reeeeeally hard to sound the total opposite of what he's done over the past four years.

[identity profile] kelincihutan.livejournal.com 2012-10-23 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
"America is the only indispensable nation?" Is Obama seriously thinking he can fool people into thinking he believes in American exceptionalism now? Yeah, that'll fly.
