i also had some....poorly thought out.. views on the President. i admit i still think he made some bad decisions, but i agree he did so from "noble reasons" as opposed to poor decisions from selfish or poor reasons.

i hadnt thought of him being naive... as such.. but yes he probably was. its an occam's razor explanation for some of his calls.. the idea that we all just want the same thing deep down.
